USAID Funding Opportunity: Request for Proposals to Strengthen Civil Society

Deadline: 31 July 2015

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has issued a Request for Proposals to provide funding support to NGOs to ensure citizens’ participation and inclusion and government’s transparency and accountability as well as integration of these principles into other sectors as they work with civil society under the ‘Strengthening Civil Society Globally (SCS Global Program).

The Strengthening Civil Society Globally (SCS Global) project furthers the USAID’s Center of Excellence on Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance under the Bureau of Democracy,

Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance, USAID/DCHA/DRG’s goal of advancing democracy,

human rights and governance.

This project is rooted in the hypothesis that civil society and independent media are considered essential to ensure citizens’ participation and representation as well as government’s transparency and accountability, which are defining elements of democratic governance and central to achieving development outcomes.

USAID strongly encourages applicants to develop consortia with other responsible and eligible organizations (U.S. or Non-U.S. Organizations) with complementary capabilities and experiences if conducive to the achievement of results under the program objectives.

When a Leader Award recipient works with a consortium or sub recipients, any Associate Awards under the Leader Award must be issued to the Leader Award recipient, not to any of the consortium or sub recipient members. The recipient of the Leader Award may make subawards to the consortium members as necessary for the program
